Community Profile: Los Olivos

Residents can easily bike to work or the beach, or stay home by the pool.

Hop on the promenade, a 1.6-mile paved trail around the Los Olivos community, and you can bike next door to Spectrum Center or cruise to the beach.

“I love to ride my bike to work,” says Los Olivos apartment resident Carin Huurnink. “It’s a lovely trail, and I can be at work in a few minutes.”

The promenade, lit for evening jogging and dog-walking, is just one way to enjoy this community nestled against Irvine’s Southern Open Space Preserve.

You can walk across the street to Los Olivos Marketplace for access to more than 30 restaurants and retail shops. Or stay home and enjoy pools, gyms, parks, sports courts and even yoga classes.

Neighbors meet over coffee at the central Village Market, and meet after work on Taco Tuesday. Wine tastings, cooking demonstrations and summertime pool parties bring neighbors together in a casual way.

“Los Olivos makes ‘me time’ easy and convenient,” says resident Thomas Fitzpatrick.

On weekdays, most of the bicycles here head north to jobs in the Spectrum District. But weekends are another story. They’re going south, to the beach.
