New mountain bike skills course opens

The Irvine Ranch Conservancy has opened a new mountain bike skills course in Irvine.

The Irvine Ranch Conservancy has opened a new mountain bike skills course in Irvine. Beginners and enthusiasts can take classes taught by certified volunteers from the conservancy, which manages the course.

“It’s a fun way to experience mountain biking before going out on a trail,” says Adam Maywhort, the conservancy’s director of planning and infrastructure.

The Irvine Ranch is home to some of the best mountain biking trails in Southern California, including those in Bommer Canyon, Limestone Canyon, Black Star Canyon and Laguna Coast Wilderness Park.

The new course, off Portola Parkway near the 241 toll road, is open for guided activities only.
