Comedian Christina P’s third Netflix special, “Mom Genes,” debuts May 8, and she performs at the Irvine Improv May 20-21. We recently caught up with her for a few questions.
How did you get started?
I got fired from a lot of jobs. My boss told me I was a lousy employee but I should try comedy.
Why do people connect with your humor?
I discuss the realities of motherhood, getting older and my own childhood. I’d like to think people recognize the truth and laugh at it.
Who’s your favorite band?
My taste in music hasn’t evolved much since 1993. I’ve been known to route my tours to see Bauhaus live whenever possible.
If not a comedian, what would you be?
A dog walker. I love dogs, and I think anyone who doesn’t share this love is emotionally deficient.
What can we expect from you at the Improv?
Fun. Joy. Mostly inappropriate humor.
