Kickstart your summer with these events

1. ‘Back on Stage’

Irvine-based Pacific Dance presents its 2022 recital, “Back on Stage.” Students will perform a variety of dance styles and celebrate their return to the stage. Irvine Barclay Theatre, 6 p.m. June 14-17, thebarclay.org.


2. ‘Into the Woods’

3. Craig Robinson

Craig Robinson, best known for his portrayal of Darryl Philbin in NBC’s “The Office,” will make a stop in Irvine for standup comedy shows. He also starred in such movies as “Knocked Up” and “This is the End.” Irvine Improv, June 24-26, improv.com/irvine.


4. World Oceans Week

Bring your kids to Pretend City during World Oceans Week, when they can learn about the impact of human actions on the ocean and support the global movement of citizens for sustainable care. Pretend City Children’s Museum, June 8-12, pretendcity.org.


5. John Beasley’s MONK’estra

Grammy-nominated pianist and composer John Beasley will lead his MONK’estra, a big band that captures the spirit of Thelonious Monk’s music in arrangements flavored with contemporary sounds that range from Afro-Cuban rhythms to hip-hop. IrvineBarclay Theatre, 8 p.m. June 9, thebarclay.org.


6. Father’s Day luncheon

7. Summer chamber music camp

Talented young musicians are invited to take part in these intensive chamber programs led by Concordia faculty and guest artists to enhance the musicians’ knowledge and musical skills while sharing the experience with peers and professional musicians. 8. Summer solstice stroll
