A visit to UCI’s Aldrich Park

With students on winter break, December is a perfect time to visit UCI’s Aldrich Park, a 19-acre circular park and campus centerpiece.

It is perhaps the most beautiful place in all of Irvine to take a family walk and be inspired by the grounds with 51 varieties of trees, including flooded gum trees over 100 feet tall and rare species of redwood.

The ring road that surrounds the park makes for a nice 1-mile walk with mild elevation gains. And, legend has it, the interconnected paths within the ring were determined organically by foot traffic, and once established, adorned with landscaping.

It’s also historic; it’s Irvine’s very first park dating back some 60 years.
