New steakhouse serves up hospitality

That’s why the steaks are prime-aged Brandt Beef, the pasta handmade and seafood fresh-caught.

And it’s why returning guests are seated at their favorite table, with their favorite server, and enjoy steak prepared just the way they like it.

“It’s all about the people and the way we treat our guests,” says DiFillippo, who has created a system for developing customer profiles of dining preferences.

“The meal may be prepared perfectly, but if the server’s unfriendly, what good is it?”

At Davio’s, you feel welcomed when you arrive for the first time, and when you return.

“Food is essential, but service is more important,” says DiFillippo, author of the highly regarded memoir, “It’s All About the Guest: Exceeding Expectations in Business and in Life, the Davio’s Way.”

At age 24, DiFillippo opened his first Davio’s in Boston, followed by high-profile locations in New York City, Atlanta, Philadelphia and now Irvine.

“We’re excited to be here in Irvine,” he says. “It’s always been a dream of mine to open a restaurant in California. We can’t wait to meet our guests and become part of this wonderful community.”

As passionate as DiFillippo is about hospitality, his dedication to the menu is equally as focused. Food is personal to this self-described “food guy” who learned to cook in the kitchen with his mother. Like home cooking, everything at Davio’s is made fresh every day. Pasta is housemade and individually cooked to order. Aged beef is locally sourced from Brandt Beef in California.

Davio’s offers unique dining options, like a weekday Power Lunch with a three-course menu for $25. It also has a Grab & Go station where guests can pick up breakfast burritos, sandwiches, or soup to go, all made fresh daily in Davio’s kitchen. Online orders and emailed specials add even more convenience.

And although you’ll find white linen at this artfully appointed Irvine Towers location, you can always expect a warm welcome.

“It’s a neighborhood place and I’m a neighborhood guy,” DiFillippo says. “Davio’s isn’t just a special occasion place. It’s an every-night-of-the week place.”
