Irvine nurse wins on ‘Wheel of Fortune’

Elaine Deslatte won an incredible $22,900 in cash and prizes, including a trip to Saint Lucia.

Elaine Deslatte had prepared for this moment for 40 years.

“Stepping onto the stage was easy,” Deslatte says of her recent appearance on “Wheel of Fortune.”

“However, when the music started and the announcer began speaking, it suddenly hit me that the show was beginning, and I felt pressure not to make a fool of myself.”

The retired nurse responded by winning $22,900 in cash and prizes, including a trip to Saint Lucia, in the eastern Caribbean, with her husband, Dennis.

“I was shocked when I looked up at the board and saw how much I was winning,” says Deslatte, who’s lived in Irvine for 35 years. “I was focused on the puzzles and trying to figure out what letters I needed.”

Deslatte has watched the show her entire life and often watched with her mother until her passing earlier this year.

“She would be very excited that I am able to check this off my bucket list,” Deslatte says.
