Owners Justin Corey and Jonas Wixom, both 20, unveil Orange Coast Soda Co. They offer “soda elevated” concoctions – aka dirty sodas – such as Dr. Coconut and Cali Cooler at Irvine Spectrum Center. We talked to Corey about the origins.
What is a dirty soda?
A dirty soda is made by mixing soda with flavored syrups, fruit juices and a splash of cream.
Are they a new thing?
Sodas with flavored creams and syrups are incredibly popular in Utah, where I’m from. It seems they’re on every street corner there. California always has these truly amazing places to eat and drink, yet when my family was here, we couldn’t find a soda shop anywhere nearby.
You decided to remedy that?
Irvine’s premier dirty soda shop was born. Guests can enjoy our signature creations or build their own beverages, maybe a Creamsicle or Tropical Dirty with cold foams, fresh fruit and toppings. Super customizable, super fun.

The cafe offers traditional coffee and matcha lattes and, more famously, specialty drinks such as the iced banana cloud latte, its cloud a fluffy, sweet cold foam.

Açai bowls share the menu with smoothies such as the Pitaya Passion, Piña Colada, Protein Machine and namesake Ubatuba. The Cookies & Cream version features agave coconut, hemp milk and Oreos.
