A new store selling Hello Kitty, Chococat and other Sanrio characters is scheduled to open at University Center this month.

The 1,070-square-foot store will sell the latest Sanrio products and collectibles, as well as school supplies, stationery, clothing, accessories and housewares.

In recent years, Irvine has become a mecca for Sanrio fans. In 2017, Sanrio struck a unique partnership with Tanaka Farms that brought Hello Kitty, My Melody and other characters to events at the Irvine farm. In 2018, the first Hello Kitty Cafe in America opened at Irvine Spectrum Center.

Sanrio Irvine, at University Center, is at 4255 Campus Drive, across from UC Irvine.
