After graduating from college in Northern California, Kenny Hong was ready for sunshine and an active lifestyle. He chose the Reserve at Orchard Hills in Irvine. As a millennial, he’s part of the largest homebuying generation in the nation. Here’s his Irvine story.

What attracted you to Irvine? I came here for the sun. I was tired of the weather up north, and Irvine has an outstanding climate. I also love that it has all the benefits of urban life, but it’s not too busy. You can find excellent restaurants and shopping without the chaos of a bigger city.

What is your favorite place to go in Irvine? Omomo Tea Shoppe at Alton Square is a go-to spot for me. I go there, relax, then get other errands done at the stores in the center.

How is it living in Orchard Hills? I moved from apartments off Jamboree because I wanted more space. I’m planning my backyard now, which will be very cool when done. The neighbors are extremely nice. I take my corgis – Mixiu and Datou – on the trails, and they love it.

What’s the future like for you in Orchard Hills? I don’t have kids now, but I will someday. So the schools were a huge reason I moved here. Each school is top-rated, like No. 1 in the state. But the teachers and people are also excellent, and that’s really important to me.
