University High volleyball star Victoria Holmes commits to UC Davis

University High volleyball star Victoria Holmes has committed to play volleyball at UC Davis.

The 6-foot-tall outside hitter led the league in kills, or unreturnable shots, in 2019, making All League 1st Team. She carries a 4.0 grade-point average.

Holmes says she is looking forward to taking her skills to the next level at UC Davis.

“I am so excited to already have an immediate friend group, an immediate home, and an immediate hobby that I participate in,” she says.

Holmes made her decision last fall, but there was no on-campus ceremony due to the coronavirus pandemic. University High officials are planning a signing event for Holmes and five other signed athletes when conditions improve.

“I am excited to experience the seasons for the first time in my life,” Holmes says. “Living in SoCal, I have always had very little weather change, but when I visited the UC Davis campus, I was excited to see how colorful the vegetation is all around campus. It almost felt like Disneyland.”
