A recent study ranked Irvine the best city in Southern California and third best in America to raise a family.
The WalletHub rankings compared 46 key metrics considered most favorable for family life, including education, safety, health care, jobs, parks and weather.
Irvine was ranked second in the nation in health and safety, which took into account things like access to health care, public safety and air quality in more than 180 U.S. cities. Irvine had the lowest violent crime rate per capita of all the cities.
Irvine was also ranked third in the nation in education and child care, based largely on school test scores, graduation rates and the success of the Irvine Unified School District.
