The University High boys tennis team won the All-American tournament at the Palisades Tennis Club, winning its fourth national title.

The University High boys tennis team won the All-American tournament at the Palisades Tennis Club, winning its fourth national title. The Trojans fell behind 1-2 after doubles play in the championship match before winning five of six singles for the 6-3 victory. Captains Conrad Brown and Zino Mirtorabi won all four singles sets they played and were named to the all-tournament team along with Ani Gupta, who swept his four singles sets. University Coach John Kessler, who has coached the Uni boys and girls teams for 21 years, celebrated his 800th career victory during the tournament.

Water polo star commits

Northwood High School

Northwood High girls water polo standout Kaitlyn Kong, a four-year starter for the Timberwolves, committed to attend Claremont McKenna College to continue her athletic career. “She helped lead the team to its first league championship ever in the 2019-2020 season,” says Northwood Coach Kyle Kim-E. This season, she led the Timberwolves with 75 goals and also had 27 assists and 50 steals, earning first-team All-Pacific Coast League honors.

Baseball player commits to Idaho

Northwood High School

Northwood High School pitcher Cal Euper has committed to play baseball at The College of Idaho next year. Euper was 2-2 last year with a 3.96 ERA and struck out 24 in 26 innings. He intends to major in business. His father, Doug, is head baseball coach at Northwood, which is seeking a spot in the CIF playoffs.


Pitcher wins two games in one day

Woodbridge High School

Woodbridge High softball pitcher Breanna Izzo notched two shutout victories in one day during the Alan Dugard Softball Classic. Izzo pitched six scoreless innings and homered in the opening game, a 3-0 win. She pitched all seven innings in the second game, winning 6-0. Izzo is committed to Army West Point to play softball next year.
