New book celebrates history of Chinese-Americans in Irvine

The South Coast Chinese Cultural Center and the city will host a celebration on May 4 for the launch of a book documenting the history of Chinese Americans in Irvine.

The South Coast Chinese Cultural Center and the city will host a celebration on May 4 for the launch of a book documenting the history of Chinese Americans in Irvine.

Chinese-Americans in Irvine 1971–2021 illustrates the Chinese immigrant experience and contributions of 31 nonprofit groups and 77 individuals to the Chinese-American experience in Irvine.

SCCCC published the book in April and distributed it to community organizations and libraries. Additional copies of the book will be available to the public in the future.

The reception for the free May 4 event will begin at 5 p.m. at City Hall, followed by the formal program at 6 p.m. Registration for this event is required.  Click here to register.
