For the ninth consecutive year, UC Irvine has been ranked as one of America’s top 10 public universities by U.S. News & World Report. The 2024 Best Colleges list ranks UCI 10th among the nation’s public universities and 33rd overall. Others in the top 10 include UC Berkeley, UCLA, the University of Michigan and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The annual rankings evaluate nearly 1,500 four-year institutions on nearly 19 measures that pertain to academic quality and graduate outcomes. UCI was ranked No. 9 overall for software engineering programs and No. 12 overall for providing “social mobility” – enrolling and graduating students with financial need.
