UCI students to perform Puccini opera

UCI vocal arts students will present “Gianni Schicchi,” an Italian comic opera about family, deception, greed and double-crossing.

Relatives of Buoso Donati, wealthy and newly deceased, gather for the reading of his will. When they discover their inheritance wasn’t exactly what they hoped, the family enlists the help of the wily Gianni Schicchi to alter the outcome.

The opera will feature the UCI Symphony Orchestra.

Performances: 8 p.m. May 13 and 2 p.m. May 14 at Irvine Barclay Theatre. General admission $21, seniors $18.
