Orange County Music & Dance, a nonprofit community arts-education school in Irvine, will move to the Great Park in 2026.
City leaders recently approved a lease, allowing the school to double its enrollment with a new 35-acre campus, featuring classrooms, rehearsal-and-performance spaces with professionally designed acoustics, and a 450-seat theater that will be shared with community groups and ensembles.
Under the agreement, Irvine officials will provide the school with a $1 annual lease for the campus. The lease, along with the $91 million that city officials have already invested in the land, signifies one of the largest gifts from a municipality in the U.S., school officials said.
Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2025 and finish in fall 2026.
