Postmaster William A. Cook hangs a sign renaming the post office the East Irvine Post Office on Oct. 12, 1965. The post office had been run out of a general store since 1911.
Free guided tours are available of the historic building as well as a former blacksmith shop and grain silos in Old Town Irvine. Meet at noon on the second Sunday of each month at the La Quinta Inn lobby on Sand Canyon Avenue. Tours last roughly one hour and are led by volunteer docents.
