IUSD dominates at science olympiad

Irvine Unified School District again proved its strength in STEM education at the 2026 OC Regional Science Olympiad, sending more teams to the state competition than any district in the county.

In the middle school division, Sierra Vista, Jeffrey Trail and Rancho San Joaquin schools led the charge. Of 38 teams, Sierra Vista’s three teams captured the top three overall spots, marking the school’s fifth consecutive regional title. At the high school level, University High School and Portola High School placed second and third out of 48 teams.

The advancing teams will compete this month at the state tournament at Caltech.
