The Irvine Valley College men’s tennis team capped a dominant 14-1 season by capturing its second consecutive California Community College Athletic Association state title, sweeping Foothill College at the dual team championship. It marked IVC’s fifth championship since 2015.
The program’s historic week continued when team captain Jonathan Hinkel received the 2026 Intercollegiate Tennis Association CCCAA Men’s Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award.
Hinkel, who went undefeated in singles, was honored for fostering a supportive team culture, volunteering at a local elementary school and coaching youth tennis at his former academy.
