$2 Million Donated to Irvine Schools

What makes Irvine unique? Is it the fact that one-third of the city is open space? Or that a third of all Fortune 500 companies call Irvine home? Or that it’s America’s safest city?

All of those are important, but perhaps more than anything, it is the community’s shared commitment to quality education.

And there is no better example of that commitment than the Excellence in Education Enrichment Fund, in the Irvine Unified School District.

Surrounded by smiling fifth-grade musicians, Superintendent Terry Walker recently accepted an annual financial gift to help protect the district’s enrichment lessons in art, music and science in grades four through six.

The gift is part of a 20-year Irvine Company funding commitment totaling over $45 million. To date, 80,000 students — and counting — have benefited from these outstanding lessons.
