Meet the officers who keep Irvine the safest city in America

by TOMOYA SHIMURA

The Irvine Police Department will host its annual National Night Out on Aug. 6, when residents can get a glimpse of what goes into policing in America’s safest city.

Events include a bike rodeo, electric-bike demonstration, K-9 dogs, motorcycles, squad cars, firetrucks and Irvine’s police horses and riders.

The annual tradition, celebrated nationwide, takes place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in three Irvine locations: Cypress Community Park, 255 Visions (the horses will be here); University Community Park, 1 Beech Tree Lane; and the Ranch Neighborhood Park, 5161 Royale Ave.
