Irvine’s Most Historic Structure

Part of James Irvine’s ranch house is the oldest remaining structure in the City of Irvine.

When Irvine’s house was built in 1868, there was no civilization for miles. In fact, it was one of the few wooden structures between Anaheim and San Diego.

In 1977, Irvine Company donated the remaining portion of the farmhouse to the Irvine Historical Society for its museum, adjacent to Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course.
