Irvine names new city manager

Following a nationwide search, the Irvine City Council has chosen Oliver Chi to become its sixth city manager.

Following a nationwide search, the Irvine City Council has chosen Oliver Chi to become its sixth city manager. Chi most recently spent two years leading the city of Huntington Beach, where he implemented key sustainability initiatives, community engagement activities and fiscal health policies.

Chi brings 22 years of government experience to the job, including leadership positions in the cities of Claremont, Monrovia and Rosemead. He also worked in the California Legislature. Chi holds a bachelor’s degree as well as a master’s, earned at UCLA and USC, respectively.
