‘Global importance’ of UCI researchers honored

The American Association for the Advancement of Science honored six UC Irvine researchers for distinguished achievements.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world’s largest general scientific society, honored six UC Irvine researchers for distinguished achievements.

These include contributions to cognitive neuroscience, the understanding of quantum materials and aspects of the central nervous system.

Researchers include Alexander Chernyshev (physics and astronomy), Aimee Edinger (developmental and cell biology), Tryphon Georgiou (mechanical and aerospace engineering), Gregory Hickok (language science), Julie Schoenung (materials science and engineering) and Georg Striedter (neurobiology and behavior).

“The research conducted by these scholars is of global importance and brings great credit to the entire UCI community,” says Pramod Khargonekar, UCI’s vice chancellor for research.
