Sierra Vista shines at Science Olympiad

Sierra Vista Middle School finished second in the U.S. at the 39th annual Science Olympiad National Tournament.

​​Sierra Vista Middle School finished second in the U.S. at the 39th annual Science Olympiad National Tournament.

The middle-school division consisted of 60 teams that advanced from state competitions. Over 7,800 middle and high school teams from 50 states compete in the Science Olympiad, which Sierra Vista won last year.

At this year’s national tournament, Sierra Vista finished within the top five in 16 out of 26 events, including two first-place finishes.

“I am extremely proud of our students and our Charger Science Olympiad Community,” says coach Shaun Evola. “The level of perseverance and diligence in working toward our goals was truly a communal effort.”
