Sprinkles bakery has arrived at Irvine Spectrum Center, next to the Regal theater. Founded by “Cupcake Wars” judge Candace Nelson, Sprinkles is renowned for its sophisticated twist on the classic cupcake, using ingredients like sweet-cream butter, pure Madagascar bourbon vanilla, Callebaut chocolate, and fresh bananas, strawberries and carrots.

Nelson opened her first shop in Beverly Hills in 2005, and on the first day, she sold out of cupcakes in three hours. Since then, Sprinkles has been endorsed by celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey and Tom Cruise.

Year-round favorites include the Red Velvet, made of Southern-style chocolate cake with cream-cheese frosting, and the namesake Sprinkles, made with a birthday cake base and buttercream frosting coated with sprinkles. Also look for a rotating list of seasonal choices, including graham-cracker-lined chocolate S’mores and Chocolate Dulce de Leche, which is finished with a chocolate avocado cream cheese frosting.

For those on the go, try Sprinkles’ colorful “Cupcake ATM” that will soon be installed in front of the store. (Note: perfect for selfies.) Simply choose the cupcakes, cookies or brownies you crave, swipe and enjoy your stroll around Spectrum Center.
