University High and Irvine Unified School District earned top honors in an influential ranking of public schools. 

Niche, a company specializing in grading schools and colleges, selected University High as the seventh-best public high school in California, based on academic and student data from the U.S. Department of Education.

University High’s achievement underscores its commitment to providing an outstanding educational experience that encourages well-rounded students, school officials say. 

Additionally, Niche ranked Irvine Unified as the top school district in Orange County and among the best in the state. 

The ranking is based on student proficiency in math and reading, test scores, graduation rates and opinions from students, parents and educators. 

Irvine Unified serves more than 37,000 students.
