Three students from Irvine Unified School District won top honors among more than 3,000 competitors at the 2024 National History Day contest: Harmony Yan-Li of Irvine High School, plus Audrey Kim and Henry Wiechmann of Sierra Vista Middle School. Yan-Li earned third place in the Senior Individual Documentary category. Kim secured second place in the Junior Individual Performance category and Wiechmann received a special award for his project on Latin American history. The annual contest celebrates academic excellence by encouraging students to engage in historical research, identify important issues and present their findings.
