Fulbright honor goes to UC Irvine again

UC Irvine has been named a Fulbright HSI Leader for the fourth consecutive year by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

The designation honors Hispanic-serving institutions (HSI) for their strong engagement with the Fulbright Program, the federal government’s flagship international academic exchange initiative.

Since 1970, UC Irvine has produced 172 Fulbright scholars – 84 undergraduate and 88 graduate students – who have studied, taught and conducted research abroad. Many Fulbright recipients go on to become leaders in academia, business and government. Designated an HSI in 2017, UC Irvine is also a founding member of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, which represents more than 500 institutions across the U.S., Latin America and Spain.
