New pickleball courts at Mike Ward Park

Pickleball players have new courts to call home in Woodbridge. Eight courts have opened at Mike Ward Community Park to meet the demand for one of the fastest-growing sports in the nation.

The project includes four shade structures, upgraded lighting and improvements to the park’s restrooms. Picnic tables, benches, drinking fountains and refreshed landscaping were also added across the 22-acre park.

Irvine now has 16 dedicated pickleball courts, including six at Portola Springs Community Park and two at Los Olivos, plus nine hybrid tennis-pickleball courts at Heritage, Knollcrest, Los Olivos, San Carlo and University.
