Grammy Award winner Joss Stone brings her soulful voice to Irvine Barclay Theatre in her “Less is More” tour on Feb. 4. The British singer and songwriter has been in the public eye since she was 13.
What are you hoping audiences take away from the Irvine show?
For me, this tour is about stripping everything back to what really matters. Human hearts and human voices: the song, the story, the feeling. This tour is an invitation to slow down and just be present together. For the Irvine show, I really want people to feel relaxed, connected and maybe a little lighter when they leave.
After 20-plus years onstage, what still excites you most about performing live?
The connection. That never gets old. You can be singing the same song, but the energy in the room is different every night. There’s nothing quite like standing onstage and feeling everyone breathing and feeling together – it’s magic.
For someone seeing you live for the first time, what’s the best way to experience a Joss Stone concert?
Come as you are. Don’t overthink it. You don’t need to know every song – just feel it. Sing if you want, sit quietly if you want, dance if your body tells you to. It’s not about perfection; it’s about sharing a moment together and feeling free.
