IUSD school recognized as one of the nation’s best

Vista Verde is the latest Irvine Unified School District campus to earn a prestigious recognition.

Vista Verde is the latest Irvine Unified School District campus to earn a prestigious recognition. The K-8 school is one of just five in Orange County to be named a Blue Ribbon School, widely regarded as the highest academic honor in the nation. The award recognizes schools for their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps. This is the second time Vista Verde has earned the distinction. What’s the school’s secret to success?

“We work to empower students to take intellectual risks, to embrace innovation and creativity, all while developing social-emotional well-being,” Vista Verde Principal Jerry Vlasic says.

Vista Verde is in good company in IUSD, recognized by Niche.com as the top school district in the state. That’s thanks in part to the number of statewide and national honors the district has received, including 19 Blue Ribbon Awards, seven California Gold Ribbon Awards and 70 California Distinguished School Awards.
