Irvine Ranch Conservancy is bringing back more docent-led hikes to its offering of free outdoor activities on protected open space in and around Irvine.

Irvine Ranch Conservancy is bringing back more docent-led hikes to its offering of free outdoor activities on protected open space in and around Irvine.

You can join a 7-mile morning hike through Bommer Canyon, once part of the historic Irvine cattle ranch. You’ll be rewarded with fantastic views overlooking the ocean and Irvine landmarks.

There’s a 5-mile hike through Weir Canyon, where an expert will teach you how to discern animal tracks, scat and other signs.

Families with toddlers can participate in Upper Newport Bay’s long-running and popular storytime. Wild Tales will be offered every Friday and includes an outdoor storytime, an age-appropriate hike and a craft project.

IRC is a nonprofit organization that helps manage The Irvine Ranch open space. Registration is required at letsgooutside.org.
