The city’s first intersection to feature touchless pedestrian crossing is up and running at Culver and Campus drives. The city’s latest traffic innovation is operational for all four crosswalks at the intersection. Pedestrians simply wave their hand a few inches in front of the signal to indicate they are ready to cross. Last month, the city equipped 25 intersections with traffic sensors that use artificial intelligence to improve traffic efficiency. And it has synchronized over 300 traffic lights along 19 corridors, eliminating nearly one-third of the stops a motorist would otherwise encounter.
