A new study ranked Irvine as one of the best cities in America to raise a family.

The city was ranked the best city in California for families with children, according to StorageCafe.

The study measured a series of criteria such as public school ratings, safety, home prices, income, child care cost and recreation opportunities.

It was the latest accolade for the master-planned city in 2022. Others include:

OC’s best city: Irvine was voted “Best City to Live in” by Orange County Register readers in the 29th annual Best of Orange County publication. This is the seventh consecutive year Irvine has won this award.

OC’s best playground: Irvine’s Adventure Playground has been named Best Playground in Orange County in Parenting OC magazine’s 2022 Reader’s Choice Awards for the second consecutive year.

SoCal’s best park system: For the seventh consecutive year, Irvine’s park system has been ranked among the top 10 in the nation by the Trust for Public Land. Irvine ranked eighth in the country and first in Southern California in the national nonprofit’s annual ParkScore Index, which is recognized as the national gold-standard comparison of park systems across the 100 most populated cities in the United States.

SoCal’s happiest city: Irvine was named the happiest city in Southern California, according to WalletHub’s 2022 rankings that evaluated 30 indicators of happiness – from income growth rate to average leisure time.

America’s safest city: For the 17th consecutive year, FBI crime statistics show that Irvine is the safest U.S. city of its size. And not only the safest, but considerably safer than other medium-to-large cities. Virginia Beach, the next safest city per the report, had more than 50% more violent crimes per capita than Irvine.
